Inspiring Western New Yorkers to uncover joy, embrace creativity, and find connection through art making and hand made crafts
Have you ever turned to creativity in times of stress? I did and it changed my life. I'm Julie Carter, Founder of Buffalo Makers Hub and someone who dabbles in creativity each day as a part of my self-care routine. A few years back I was juggling full time caregiving for a family member, full time teaching, and keeping up with the usual stressors that come with having a home and family. And then came the COVID19 Pandemic! Although I had loved making art as a child and teen, I put it aside to pursue what I thought were more "practical" career goals. What could have been the most stressful moment of my life became manageable, as I turned to art twice a week.
Buffalo Makers Hub helps people tap into creativity, find healing in the process of making something beautiful and feel joy and accomplishment as they walk away with a completed work of art.
I deeply believe that arts, and "making" of any sort, has the power to transform . And I'm not the only one. Recent research confirms that engagement in creativity even once a month can "improve health and well being in OVER 40 DIFFERENT WAYS from better mental and physical well being, to lower health care costs and fewer doctor's visits."
I knew my own experience couldn't be unique and so Buffalo Makers Hub was born.
Whatever your reason for seeking creativity, Buffalo Makers Hub will help you find it!
As we gear up to seek funding and eventually move into a permanent space, we are proud to offer classes several times a month as "pop ups" at various fully accessible locations throughout the Buffalo region.
